Oscar LaDell

Oscar LaDell is a second-generation Roots singer, songwriter and guitarist who brings a timeless vulnerability to his original blend of Blues, Soul, Folk and Americana. Hailing originally from Denver Colorado, LaDell grew up in Purakaunui in the South of Aotearoa. Drawing from the moody and poignant scenes of his home, LaDell writes, plays and sings with an incisiveness and depth that bely his young age.

In the space of one of LaDell’s original songs, the sound can range from a gentle slow dance to explosive and hypnotic guitar solos. Oscar’s powerful and expressive guitar playing and soulful singing act as one to create a sound that is both reminiscent of the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s and fresh. Inevitable comparisons to artists such as Hozier, Leon Bridges and Michael Kiwanuka come to mind. However, LaDell’s personal approach and eclectic influences contribute to a sound that is at once authentic and unique.
