In 1983, Luke Greenhatch heard the news of Muddy Waters’ passing when PBS played 3 tracks to mark the occasion. First Muddy, then BB, and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Spellbound by their passionate playing, this moment proved pivotal for the young guitarist, setting him on a journey home to The Blues. 30+ years later, Luke is switching on new generations to vintage Blues at venues across Victoria, including a dedicated blues bar, Beneath Driver Lane, and the legendary Blues Train.
Luke formed ‘The Greenhatch Effect’, playing blues-based originals in beloved pubs such as The Dan O’Connell and The Rainbow. Revisiting the Melbourne Blues Appreciation Society in 2012 led Luke to team with Stibbo Hanger, Nicole Nehemia, Liam Kealy, and play guest spots with Jesse Valach, Blue Eyes Cry, Black & Blues and Electric Blues Collective. Now an established solo artist, Greenhatch partners with masters Peter Beulke, Neil Richardson and Andy Burns, bringing vintage blues to fans of all ages.
